So the kids and I are kind of Harry Potter nerds. We love the books, we love the movies, and we loved seeing the magical world of Harry Potter come to life during our last visit to Universal Orlando.

If you are also a huge Harry Potter fan, here are a few humorous reasons why you SHOULD NOT visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.

Reasons to NOT Visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Neverending Earworm

You SHOULD NOT visit Universal Orlando’s Harry Potter World because… the Harry Potter theme song will be stuck in your head for weeks afterwards.

Seriously (or should I say siriusly), you will find yourself humming it for at least a month. And, if you are like me, you will even hear it play like background music in your dreams at night.

Housework? Ugh!

Magical brooms sweep the ceiliings at Ollivander's Wand Shop
Where can a muggle find a magical broom to sweep cobwebs from her ceilings at home?

You SHOULD NOT visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because… it will make your day-to-day chores feel even more mundane and tedious than before.

Cleaning house as a muggle will never be more boring to you once you’ve seen unmanned broomsticks sweeping floors and dishes magically washing themselves in the Wizarding World. I found myself wishing for a magic wand (or house elf) once I had returned to my home in the muggle world.

Do you think it is possible for a muggle like myself to purchase one of those magical self-cleaning brooms? No? I guess you can just call me Dobby now. *sigh*

The Magic is Gone

You SHOULD NOT visit the Harry Potter parks at Universal Orlando because… it will make you realize that there is something missing from your life – magic.

Running around the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with your interactive wand is so much fun. Flick your wrist and point your wand to see what amazing things will happen. Make skeletons dance, winds blow, water spray, birds sing, and objects move.

What a disappointment when you leave the park and you suddenly become a Squib. Not even a Kwikspell course can help you make that magic wand work once you’ve returned to your muggle life. No matter how hard you try to swish and flick and cast spells, nothing will happen because the magic is simply gone.

Ollivander's Wand Shop: If only we could make the magic of our first wand last. *sigh*

Road Trip? BORING!

You SHOULD NOT visit the Harry Potter parks at Universal Orlando because… driving muggle cars will seem so dull afterwards.

After riding the Hogwarts Express, your typical car ride will seem so uneventful and, even more so, once you realize that your own unenchanted muggle car can’t even fly. No flying motorbikes either!

Our family loves road trips but I fear our beloved travel method will never be the same for us.

There’s No Place Like Hogwarts

You SHOULD NOT visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because… you will regret your own domicile choices.

Your own home will never seem tinier than after you’ve visited the magnificent Hogwarts castle. I mean, your framed muggle artwork doesn’t even talk to you. And, how many secret passageways have you discovered in your place of residence?

Upon entering your own home once again, you will most likely find yourself saying “There’s no place like Hogwarts” instead of “Home, sweet home!”

Dreaming of Hogwarts
Isn’t the Hogwarts Castle dreamy???

Forever Craving Butterbeer

You SHOULD NOT visit Universal Orlando’s Harry Potter World because… you will never fully enjoy your (former) favorite beverages again.

After sipping your first delicious Butterbeer in Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley, your muggle soda pops and iced coffees will never again satisfy you. Yes, Butterbeer is that good! And, bonus, you can experience Butterbeer in three wonderful ways at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – hot, cold, or frozen. Yummmm!

Guess what else??? It will ruin ice cream and fudge for you, too! That’s right. There are also such delightful culinary offerings as Butterbeer soft-serve ice cream and Butterbeer fudge.

Butterbeer in Hogsmeade? Who could ask for anything more?
Give me all the Butterbeer and all the magic of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Wizarding World Withdrawals

You SHOULD NOT visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because…  you will never want to leave.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is so much fun that you won’t want to leave it. The magic and wonder of it all is unforgettable. After enjoying the delights of Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, not even the dark streets of Knockturn Alley will be able to scare you away.

Hmmm. Maybe You SHOULD Go There.

Really though, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is pretty amazing! All joking aside, you should definitely go there.

  1. I still need to get to this place! I’d be okay if I were “ruined” for ice cream, fudge, and car rides. It’d be a bummer, but I’m willing to make that sacrifice. 😂

  2. Been twice. Can’t ride the majority of the Universal rides, but STILL want 4 days for Harry Potter.

      1. Planning a trip to Universal Orlando? Fantastic! You are going to love it. I highly recommend planning on spending at least two days there and make sure you get the park-to-park pass (otherwise you won’t be able to ride the Hogwarts Express train and you don’t want to miss out on that fun experience).
