Every time I visit Northern Michigan, I find myself snapping a few pictures of the Mighty Mac (formally the Mackinac Bridge). It’s such an impressive feat of engineering, such a dominant feature of the landscape, such an object of pride for all of Michigan’s residents.

Mackinac Bridge Views

I have had the privilege of snapping pictures of the Mighty Mac from a number of different angles and at different times of the day and night. So many pictures!

From left to right,

At day, at night,

In a boat, in a car,

Right up close, way back far,

Over, under,

                What a wonder!

  1. I’ve always wanted to go to Mackinac Island ever since my grandparents too a trip there when I was in elementary school. I didn’t know the bridge was so cool!

  2. Another awesome bridge! I love the pictures from beneath the bridge because they allow you to see how intricate and impressive its construction is. As much as I marvel at the architectural beauty of these bridges, I have a strange fear of driving over water. While I’d love to see the Golden Gate in person, I don’t think I’d have the courage to cross it lol. I guess that means taking a trip to the Florida Keys is out of the question. Anyway, great article as usual.

    1. I think a lot of people get extra nervous about driving on bridges over large bodies of water. It’s such a prevalent fear that the Mackinac Bridge Authority offers a service where they will drive your vehicle over the bridge for you if you ask. I thought that was kind of cool.

      P. S. The Florida Keys is on my road trip wish list!

  3. I love the Mackinac bridge. I saw it the first time in 1969 at age 16.I was as impressed as the Eiffel tower or Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Somewhere in time is one of my favorite movies.

    1. It is a spectacular sight indeed. I just watched Somewhere In Time for the first time a couple years ago. What a blast to see so many familiar sights from Mackinac Island!
